Forsyth Technical Community College
Here's a little about me
Bio

I’m currently in my final year at Forsyth Technical Community College (FTCC), Winston-Salem, North Carolina in the Associate in Arts degree (A.A.) program. I plan to transfer to a four-year institution and earn a Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.), and continue to study Leadership in Colleges & Universities, Governmental Agencies, and Public Service Organizations. I am also a community volunteer (150+ hours of service), a member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor
Society, an Executive Official and Senator in the Student Government Council of the SGA, North Carolina Comprehensive Community College Student Government Association (N4CSGA) Executive Board member and Western Division Chair, Stevens Initiative at the Aspen Institute Alumnus, Crosby Scholars Alumnus, and a member of the United States Tennis Association since 2016.

I was referred to the Global Scholars program by one of my professors in my first semester of college. I didn't know anything about it at the time, yet I could understand its importance in just about any area you go into in the future. In addition to its significance, I also found the idea an interesting one to allow me the rare opportunity to have experiences and learn things I'm not typically exposed to with the exception of church and volunteer opportunities. I'm grateful to my ENG111 professor for suggesting I check into the program and for Ms. Carol Hayes for accepting me into the program and advising me about the Stephens Initiative early on. It's changed my entire approach and perspective on globalization in general, and the benefits are perpetual.
On a personal level, I have a genuine interest and passion for good health practices, a regular fitness regimen, and a proper diet and nutrition, and I try to live my life by these principles. As well I believe a strong source for maintaining mental health is solid, consistent, and supportive social connections including good friends and family surrounding you, which I’m very fortunate to have. I try to be supportive of others just as they are there for me. One of my favorite quotes is by the late Kay Yow, former NC State Women's head basketball coach and Naismith Hall of Fame member, “When life kicks you, let it kick you forward.”
